Why Republican Vegetables?

A friend recently sent us a note asking about the story behind our blog name. I'm going to post Boz's response just in case the meaning isn't blatantly obvious to the rest of our readers:

"Abby and I were at dinner probably a year or two ago, and she had ordered something called a sunchoke, which I had never heard of before.  I probably grimaced or rolled my eyes or did something similarly childish and annoying, and she responded by saying, "You hate vegetables.  You need to eat more vegetables." or something similarly mature and annoying.  So I said, "I like REPUBLICAN vegetables, like carrots, broccoli, spinach, peas, etc.  What's wrong with those vegetables?  Why does everyone think we need to be vegetably progressive?"  Of course, the sunchokes came, I ate them, and they were delicious.  We both decided that the whole episode was hilarious and pretty well summed up our relationship, and a website name was born."

So there you have it.
