Puzzle Pieces #3

Japanese people normally put the family name first in any type of correspondence. So...every single email I've received from my Japanese friends has opened with the greeting "Hi Fraser!" We're 3 months deep and it still confuses the hell out of me every time. If I were to receive a "Hi Fraser..." in Texas, it would be followed by either "Running trail...15 minutes. Meet me there" or "Day drinking. Right now". Those are the only 2 options. Here in Japan, "Hi Fraser!" is followed by "It was pleasureful to meet you! Thank you for lunch." or something equally awesome (and hilarious) yet entirely inconsistent with the greeting. I love it. It's keeping me on my toes.

Fraser. Out.
